Step-by-step Spider Face Paint (Halloween design)
Below you’ll see step by step how to create a simple spider face paint on the cheek. This design is quick, easy, and perfect for beginners.
Step 1: Accent on the body (optional)
Start with an hourglass shape using red face paint. This turns the spider into a black widow. Is this too difficult? Then simply leave this step out.

Step 2: Body
Paint a round shape with black face paint around the red hourglass shape.

Step 3: The head
Paint a small half circle with black face paint next to the spider’s body.

Step 4: Jaws
Use a thin brush and black face paint to add jaws to the head of the spider.

Step 5: The legs
Each spider leg starts between the body and the head. Paint the legs with a thin brush and black face paint. Each leg consists of three segments.
Tip: Make the legs slightly curved for a more realistic effect.

Step 6: 8 legs and highlight
Give the spider 8 legs, all starting from the same point. Add a white highlight to the spider’s body and your spider is finished.

Common mistakes when painting a spider
Watch out for these beginner mistakes:
Legs too thick → you lose detail
Legs too straight → looks unnatural
No highlight → looks flat
Too big → loses shape
Thin lines and small details make the difference.
